Upon first starting this website I also started something I called The Aubreyad Press Gang to do a group read of the series. We got through the first and second novels before the project fell by the wayside, but the discussion questions remain. Perhaps someday the APG will set sail once more…
1. What signal do you think Griffiths was about to make, and why? What would Jack have done had he been in command?
2. Jack tells Stephen that most of the naval officers are disappointed about the Peace, yet Jack is also clearly against Napoleon and everything he stands for. How can one reconcile those two facts? If he’s not fighting for peace, what is he fighting for?
3. What is the significance of the fox hunting scene?
4. What are your initial impressions of the ladies of Mapes Court?
Questions by your captain.
